1 September, 2014: A deputation of Bharatiya Janata Party District 4 led by District President Shakti Prakash Devshali along with District Industries Cell Convener Mukesh Sharma, Auto Mechanic Cell Convener Ramesh Kumar, Co-Convener UmeshKumar and Rajesh Kumar met Sh. V.P. Singh, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh and submitted a memorandum regarding rehabilitation of the auto-mechanics of Motor Market, Manimajra.

It is worth mentioning here that when the Municipal Corporation removed all the auto-mechanics from Motor Market, Manimajra, Sh. Sanjay Tandon President BJP Chandigarh immediately raised the issue with the Municipal Commissioner following which a delegation of the party also submitted a memorandum to him.

District President Shakti Prakash Devshali brought into the notice of the Commissioner that the poor auto-mechanics are earning their livelihood by working in the open for the last over three decades.   Repeatedly, the Corporation  is removing them in the name of anti-encroachment drive.  He stressed upon the need of rehabilitation of these automechanics.

The deputation also requested the Commissioner to prepare a policy under which these auto-mechanics be issued Identity Cards after proper survey and should be rehabilitated by imposing a minimal Licence fees.

The deputation also made it clear to the Commissioner that the BJP strongly believes that all the citizens should be given a chance to earn their livelihood respectfully so that they can feed their families.

The Commissioner listened to deputation and assured that he will do the needful in the matter so as to rehabilitate the auto-mechanics.  He also assured that the Corporation will also form a policy so as to save these poor people from unnecessary harassment.
