Shri Harmohan Dhawan is a Former Union Minister and senior BJP Leader from Chandigarh.

Shri Harmohan Dhawan was born on 14th July, 1940 at Fatehjung, District Caimbalpur (Now in West Pakistan). After partition of the country in 1947. Dhawan’s migrated to Ambala Cantt., where he did his Matriculation from BD High School, Ambala Cantt and Intermediate from S.D. College, Ambala Cant.

In 1960, Shri Harmohan Dhawan joined the Department of Botany at Panjab University, Chandigarh, and did his BSc (Honours) in 1963 and MSc (Honours) in the year 1965. Shri Harmohan Dhawan was a Research Scholar from 1965 to 1970 and joined the PL 480 aided project, wherein he did research on “Cytological Studies of the Economic Plants of North West Himalayas”.

In the year 1970 Shri Harmohan Dhawan started his Small Scale Unit and became President of Industries Association of Chandigarh. In the year 1979, he entered in the Hospitality Industry also. Dhawan was awarded the best Young Entrepreneur Award by the Vice President of India in the year 1983.

His political journey began in the year 1977 and was elected as MP in the year 1989. Since then Shri Harmohan Dhawan has been in active politics.
